They said it could never happen here. Now it is.

Friends,

Legal residents. Mothers. Children. Workers. Snatched from their homes and schools, flown across the country, buried in paperwork and disappeared

That’s America today.

In a recent sit-down with El Salvador’s president, Donald Trump declared that “homegrowns” are next.

Today, ICE arrested Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez, natural born U.S. citizen, as he was traveling from him hometown in Georgia to his job in Tallahassee, Florida.

They told us it could never happen here.

Then came 9/11—and they built the foundation for it.

ICE was created with bipartisan support. The PATRIOT Act shredded civil liberties in the name of “security.”

Bush called it safety. Democrats called it compromise.

Then came Obama—who deported more people than any president in history, normalizing cruelty with calm speeches and clean suits.

Then came Biden—who promised to reverse Trump’s policies, but kept the cages, kept the detentions, kept the silence.

Now Trump is back—brazenly detaining and threatening to deport U.S. citizens. And the system built by both parties is still in place, ready to do it.

Let’s be honest: this country has always known how to disappear people.

Guantanamo Bay. Japanese internment. Indigenous boarding schools. Operation Wetback. Native Alaskan Detention Camps. Slave plantations and chain gangs – just to name a few.

And both parties have kept that machine running.

But when they start threatening American citizens by name? That puts the moral burden on governors.

If California is going to be a sanctuary, then it better act like one. But our current Democratic governor thinks it’s a “distraction” to talk about Trump’s extralegal kidnappings.

California needs a governor who will never trade lives for polling numbers.

A governor ready to defy Trump—openly, fully, and without apology.

That’s why I’m running with the Green Party. Because I don’t owe anything to the people who built this surveillance state. I owe everything to the people they’ve tried to crush under it.

California is the fifth-largest economy in the world. We have the power to set the moral standard. And we are long past the point of polite resistance. It’s time to build a new movement—unbought, unbowed, and unafraid.

If you believe we must protect every Californian—citizen or not—from this lawless regime, chip in now.
