The people haven’t given up on politics. Politics gave up on the people.

Friends,

You don’t need a degree in political science (even though I have one) to understand what this latest AP poll is saying – just a heartbeat and open eyes.

A graphic featuring recent survey results about pessimism in U.S. politics featuring figures for Democratic respondents.

66% of Democrats are pessimistic about the future of the Republican Party.

73% are pessimistic about politics itself.

55% don’t believe in how our leaders are even chosen.

And barely a third of Democrats are optimistic about their own party.

That’s not a glitch in the system. That is the system.

People didn’t walk away from politics. Politics walked away from the people.

And who can blame them?

For decades Democrats promised transformation and delivered technocracy.

They ran on hope, then cozied up to war profiteers and bailed out Wall Street. They stood at podiums preaching “justice,” while funding weapons that unleashed Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

They pledged to protect reproductive rights—then wouldn’t muster the votes to codify Roe and made excuses while fundamental freedoms were gutted state by state.

And through it all, they told us to be patient. To vote harder. To expect nothing and be grateful anyway.

That’s not just a betrayal. That’s abandonment. And that’s why this moment matters so much.

Because when voters say they’re done? When they stay home in record numbers? They’re not apathetic.

They’re resisting a system designed to forget them.

But let me tell you something: that despair? It’s not the end of the story.

It’s the soil where new power grows.

Because when 73% of Democrats say this political system doesn’t work, what they’re really saying is—we’re ready to build something else.

I know this because I spent two decades organizing in the Democratic party. I tried like hell to change the system from within. What I witness every single day reaffirms my decision to put my time and energy into the Green Party instead.

Deep down, millions of people still believe in something better.

You can see it in mutual aid networks, strike lines, and ballot measures fought for by working people, not political machines.

That’s what this campaign is about.

We’re not here to reform a party that’s been bought. We’re not here to appeal to the same donors who bankroll both sides.

We’re here to build a movement worthy of the people who’ve been locked out, sold out, and written off.

Let’s break the cycle and build what they said was impossible: a government for the people.

In solidarity,

Jason Call
