Not in our name. Not with our dollars
Friends,
They’re calling it “Gideon’s Chariots.”
That’s the name Israel’s far-right government chose for its latest military offensive in Gaza — a biblical reference to conquest and divine punishment.
Let me be perfectly clear:
To cloak the massacre of children in the language of scripture — to wield a faith rooted in justice and peace as a shield for state violence — is a moral obscenity.
The Financial Times editorial board recently wrote: the longer this goes on, the more those who stay silent — or shrink from responsibility — will be complicit.
And they’re right.
U.S. weapons, U.S. dollars, and U.S. silence are fueling this slaughter.
And both parties are guilty. While children starve under blockade, while families are buried beneath rubble, AIPAC lines the pockets of Democrats and Republicans alike.
The war machine keeps spinning.
The conscience of the empire stays quiet.
But the conscience of the people? It’s stirring.
Because this country has another tradition.
One that isn’t written in party platforms, but carved into protest marches and picket signs.
From Black churches organizing against Vietnam, to high school students walking out against Iraq, to the millions today demanding a free Palestine — we have always had the power to say: not in our name.
That is the tradition I claim. And that’s the movement I’m building.
Because the work of liberation isn’t about party loyalty.
It’s about moral clarity. It’s about organizing from the bottom up and standing firm when every political wind tells you to look away.
And when I’m Governor of California, we will divest every public dollar from genocide.
We will cut ties with the war industry. We will say clearly — this state will not bankroll ethnic cleansing.
We will not fund bombs while our schools crumble and our neighbors sleep on concrete. We will not look away while our tax dollars bury children under rubble.
Because moral clarity means nothing if our tax dollars are still funding destruction. And justice means nothing if our ports ship weapons while our hospitals go broke.
We are not powerless. We are not voiceless.
We can seize the levers of this state—its budgets, its contracts, its institutions—and use them to break from empire, for good.
Peace and Power,
Butch Ware
