ICE is operating like CIA Black Ops — Governors must act now

Last week, ICE agents in plainclothes grabbed a Turkish student, Doğukan Günaydın, off the street, put a hood over his head, and handcuffed him. No warrant. No explanation. 

This is not an isolated incident.

The Trump administration just admitted in court they mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father with protected status, to El Salvador "because of an administrative error." 

Despite acknowledging this horrifying "mistake," they refuse to bring him back. His autistic 5-year-old son has been finding Kilmar's work shirts and smelling them to cope with his father's absence.

Andry José Hernández Romero, a gay Venezuelan makeup artist, was deported because immigration officials decided his crown tattoos — cultural symbols from his hometown's Three Kings Day celebrations — were gang-related. 

His mother has pleaded with the Trump admin: "Let my son go. He is not a gang member."

Court documents reveal ICE is using a disturbing "point system" that assigns deportation scores based on tattoos and social media posts. They're detaining first and asking questions never, transferring detainees across state lines at night to manipulate jurisdiction, and providing false information to courts.

This includes obtaining warrants under false pretenses. As Butch says, “If their lips are moving, they’re lying.”

Governors have significant power to protect their residents from these federal abuses, which is what they SHOULD be doing. 

But they're not.
