As Governor, I would be bound by oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and the State of California - ICE violates both -- trashing our civil liberties and human rights.  

Sadly, both corporate-owned parties constructed this oppression together. Administrations changed, yet the structure grew more violent. 

Democrats and Republicans increased their funding and broadened their enforcement powers, giving the Trump administration everything it needed to elevate ICE into a gestapo police force that terrorizes our communities.

Laws from the Clinton era expanded detention, the Bush era created new enforcement powers, and the Obama “Deporter in Chief” era amplified deportations at historic levels.

Today, ICE escalates its assault. Troops occupy our neighborhoods like foreign troops occupy territory, federal agents racially profile, and carry out state-sanctioned kidnappings. It is a war against the people of California.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party, which claimed it would stand against ICE, has again fallen back on symbolic gestures that carry no real force. 

I refuse to accept this cycle of performative outrage while the same wealthy interests fund teams Blue and Red, cashing in on contracts for prisons and immigrant detention centers.

The Green Party has never been part of that system and carries no ties to the choices that created this structure of fear.

As governor, I will direct the state's power toward an ICE-free California. I will: 

• Block state agencies from aiding federal raids, and punish officers who assist them under state law.

• Dismantle data collaboration with DHS and ICE, and bar state institutions from accepting contracts or investments tied to immigrant detention or private prisons. 

• Divest California’s public dollars from corporations that profit from confinement. 

• Build a legal and political shield strong enough to protect every Californian from the fear imposed by federal agents.

The duopoly built the architecture. We will build the exit.
