Fire, fraud, and the failure of the two parties

Friends,

California’s wildfire season used to have a start and end date. Not anymore.

Now it’s year-round—and already this year, we’ve seen over 1,000 fires scorch our state.

From Fresno last week to the Palisades and Eaton blazes that left thousands of homes in ruins and families scrambling for shelter—disaster is becoming routine.

And disaster capitalism always follows right behind.

After the flames died down in L.A., rent prices exploded.

Landlords and real estate agents hiked rates as high as 50%. And only four criminal charges have been filed out of more than 8,000 documented violations. This is no accident. It’s design.

Because when catastrophe strikes, capitalists cash in.

And neither party stops them.

That’s why we need your help now.

We live in a state where the fire season never ends, insurance companies are ghosting working people, and prosecutors are dragging their feet while families sleep on couches.

Meanwhile, the Trump regime guts FEMA, climate response, and Democrats keep writing timid press releases.

That is how we’ve ended up in a scenario where volunteers—not officials—are doing the work.

The Rent Brigade, a collective of tenant advocates, has stepped up where the system failed, exposing illegal rent gouging and demanding justice in the wake of destruction.

But we shouldn’t have to rely on volunteers, clipboards and spreadsheets to stop crimes against our neighbors.

We need a political system that serves community over capital, not a government funded by fossil fuels – and a bureaucracy that moves at the speed of profit.

The two dominant parties that have long traded environmental collapse for campaign donations.

Let’s be clear: climate justice is not just about emissions—it’s abot economics.

It’s about who profits, and who’s left to burn.

It’s about which zip codes get FEMA aid and which get forgotten.

Climate collapse doesn’t hit evenly—it falls hardest on the poor, the working class, Black and Brown communities, and those already pushed to the margins.

That’s why I’m running with the Green Party. Not to manage collapse—but to fight for a California that stops treating wildfires as line items and starts seeing them as the moral crisis they are.

Peace and Power,

Butch Ware
