Eid reminds us what we’re fighting for

Friends,

For many, today marks the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

We say Eid Mubarak, or Blessed Eid, for times like these when it is hard to be joyful. Right now we are witnessing our brothers and sisters in Palestine say their Eid prayers in the hollowed out remains of their civilization.

We say Blessed Eid instead of Happy Eid because our hearts are heavy in these dark, difficult times.

Though it is hard to celebrate today, we can and must rise above the trauma, build solidarity, build community, and stand with our brothers and sisters around the world as they cry out for justice.

Love is the root of true revolutionary resolve. It’s the inability to see needless harm reach any human being without feeling compelled to take action to prevent that harm.

We must arm ourselves with love, and find the resolve within to keep fighting for each other even when things feel dark.

That is the spirit that drives my faith, and it is the spirit that drives this campaign.

Eid reminds us that every act of generosity is an act of defiance. Every moment of shared celebration is a rejection of isolation and despair.

So let’s honor this day by standing up—not just in reflection, but in action.

When I’m Governor, we’ll carry this spirit of solidarity into every corner of California. We will build a future rooted in justice and ignite an unstoppable revolution of love.

Eid Mubarak. May peace, power, and purpose be with you,

Dr. Butch Ware
