Folks,

After weeks of Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump committing war crimes in the Caribbean and blowing up what are almost undoubtedly fishing vessels to wag the dog for another American regime change war in Latin America, Trump has now made the next move in that escalation.

He announced a blockade of oil tankers to and from Venezuela and dressed it up in the language of so-called counter- terrorism. 

Anyone who has watched American foreign policy unfold knows how wars are engineered through fear campaigns and deliberate provocation.

First comes a dramatic story, the state propaganda, then comes the spectacle of force.

When chaos follows, the same war hawks point to the suffering they created and claim U.S. intervention has become inevitable. 

A cycle repeated across Latin America, where the American empire crushes sovereignty, extracts wealth, and labels the devastation “democracy and order”.

As a candidate for governor under the Green Party banner, I represent a movement that has always stood against war, violence, and American empire. 

That commitment serves as the moral compass of our party and our work.

For the war criminals making up this administration, there is no excuse too cheap to kill Black and Brown folks abroad for wealth, resources and power, while denying lifesaving policies to our communities here at home. 

Oil sits at the center of this, and the moral language serves as camouflage for plunder.

As governor, I will use California’s immense economic and social power to resist imperial violence at every step.  

Together, we will push state divestment away from companies that profit from sanctions, warfare, private security, and militarized enforcement.

We can direct state funding away from corporations that build the machinery of blockade and occupation, and mobilize California’s congressional delegation to enforce war powers limits and demand accountability for illegal hostilities. 

We will use the bully pulpit of the world’s fourth-largest economy to expose this aggression for what it is and to stand with the people targeted by it.

Empire depends on silence. Our movement refuses it.
